Women’s knowledge and practices of modern contraceptives in rural Jammu

Background: India was the first country in world to adapt a national population control program 1952. So, it is important for couples and society as whole understand adopt methods of family planning. Use contraceptives can prevent at least 25% all maternal deaths by preventing unintended pregnancies unsafe abortions also protect against sexually transmitted infections.Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted women reproductive age group (15-49 years) gynae OPD community health centre block Bishnah district Jammu.Results: The 408 group. Almost had knowledge various spacing methods, maximum being oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) (96%), followed intrauterine devices (IUCD) (93.8%) 90.9% condoms. However, they less about injectable (13.9%).Conclusions: Family planning related found be very encouraging with two-third having positive attitude well. Main identified reasons defaults were unsustain availability, side-effects, need child opposition. It hence, improve education overcome barriers modern methods.
